Snapshots

Save a copy of a database's schema and browse it later.

A snapshot is a saved copy of a database’s schema, taken at one moment. Take one before a release to keep a record of how the schema looked.

Take a snapshot

  1. Open Snapshots and choose Take snapshot. You need at least one connection.
  2. Choose the Connection.
  3. Optionally, enter a Name (optional), such as Before release 4.2.
  4. Optionally, enter a Schema (optional). Leave it empty for all schemas.
  5. Choose Take snapshot.

A banner shows progress. When it finishes, Parallax says “Snapshot saved”.

The Snapshots list

Each row shows the snapshot’s name and connection, what it holds (such as the number of schemas, tables, views and functions), and when it was taken.

View a snapshot

Choose a row, or View, to open the snapshot as a tree: databases, schemas, then folders for each kind of object, with their counts. On MySQL, objects sit straight under the database.

Type in Find an object to filter the tree. Matching objects are unfolded so they show.

Delete a snapshot

Choose Delete on the row, then confirm Delete snapshot?.
